Napier
at 10.46am on february 3 1931, napier was levelled by a catastrophic earthquake (7.9 on the richter scale). the citizens started to rebuild the town in a new style: art deco – symbolizing the beginning of a new decade. unfortunately, most of the buildings are in a rundown condition. only a few have such an appealing appearance like the taradale town hall, situated in a suburb of napier.
