more to come next year.
my three pictures of the temppeliaukio church in helsinki won a prize in an architectural photography contest about the architecture of this wonderful rock church.
it was thomas hoepker, the famous magnum photographer, who once said “you take one, maybe two pictures a year”. this is my picture 2020. i took it in klagenfurt between the first and the second wave. for me it was one of these very rare peaceful moments of the covid 19 year, being in holiday, but the old man with his crutch and the “zu vermieten” sign shows the reality of this very special year and especially what the future will bring from it.
i love those misty days in the swabian jura.
just two days before the second lockdown began, i headed into the kleinwalsertal to take the photos of the youth hostel of the stadtjugendring stuttgart. this weekend felt a little bit like “shining” being nearly alone in a 20 room hostel with around 70 beds up in the mountains.
in this covid 19 dominated year i was really happy that my workshop “landscape photography in autumn in the swabian jura” took place. we had a fabulous warm light and a wonderful hiking tour.
no words.
it was the fifth time that i was teaching my workshop technical camera and architectural photography at the wifi innsbruck, and i have been travelling nearly a hundred times to innsbruck, where i once lived, but it was the first time that i had a special permit to enter my homeland austria. in times of covid 19 it is not that easy to travel in europe…nobody ever thought that something like this could happen. i was really happy, that my workshop took place with these fabulous participants!
since more than fourty years i love these buildings, which i always saw through the car window on our family trips over the alps heading to the mediterranean sea. this is a ventilation shaft of the arlberg tunnel around 2.000 meters above sea level in the tyrolean alps. a really wonderful brutalist concrete building like a cathedral. have a look to more at marlowes.
it was thomas hoepker, the famous magnum photographer, who once said “you take one, maybe two pictures a year”. this is my picture 2019. i took it in basel on an ordinary saturday morning. i love the scenery and the slow mood which is a real expression of switzerland for me, the watch, the confiserie and the woman inbetween with her two dogs tapping on her phone.
today is the 100th birthday of the living architecture pritzker price laureate legend gottfried böhm who build the mariendom in neviges where i was able to take these photographs.
no deal? 2020
